Watching this felt like watching a divx. It was very pixelated in parts and sometimes skipped frames.
Audio:
Nothing wrong with the sound, it was very nice.

Comment:
One of my favorite series of all time. I was a bit dissappointed with the divx-like video quality, but the good subtitles and show made up for that. TEK-SETAAA!!!!

This is a rip of the AV version so it is identical content-wise..even the AV logo when you start up any disc still remains. I decided to get the MI/AC version because the gatefold packge looked very cool:) Through I should note MI changed the packaging so it no longer has the "DVD" and MI logos-although it is still present on the discs themselves(the DVD logo is still present on the clear covers on top on the artwork inside as well) On with the review! Video-4.5/5 The first four discs in the aspect have no problems at all-The video is quite clear, only minor pixelation(pixel blocks) during fast motion scenes-however disc five has quite a bit more than the rest(due to the number of extras, see below) and shows quite a bit more pixelation..it's no big deal through and it's really not that distracting Audio-5/5 just plain mono- this isn't "dolby digital" at all,lol Anyhow, no problems here Subtitles-(English)4.5/5 For the most part it is good and the timng is spot on most of the time-more than a few episodes get names wrong, but it is easy to tell who/what they are talking about. Another thing, If your've see Teknoman(the amercanized version) they called the buggers in one episode SpiderCrabs, and some episodes use the Teknoman episode titles, lol Also on at least two the last few episodes the font changes from what it normally is-and this is where certain names get REALLY messed up(using chinese names and such) and the grammer as well to some extent, after that the letter font style changes how it always is on the rest of the discs and most names remain correct again. As for the Chinese subs, I don't know any chinese so I can't comment on how accurate they are.. Menu- For all the discs there are three options-play, chapter select and subtitle-(Except on disc 5 there is a selection for special features, more on that later) Each of the episodes in the chapter selection screen are in a box with these chapter stops- Opening,A and B parts, ending, and episode preview. In the background of each box is the episode number. All the text for the episode titles, etc. are in japanese, but the episode numbers make it easy to go where you want to... Packaging- LOVE the art used for the gatefold box..It's all very nicely done:D A cardboardish box that opens up and goes in a clear plastic slipcase(when closed)...very nice and the art that is used is great. Was going to get the AV set,but decided on the MI box version because it's looks so much more better to me than the other one:) Special Features-(disc 5) You get all sorts of stuff here, but none of them of subtiltled, the stuff here is- -Creditless opening and ending for the first season -A third opening sequence that uses animation from both openings and some of the episodes -Episode Zero-It is a episode which tells you about the original Tekkaman and how that led to Tekkaman Blade, One cool part of E0 is all the differrent concept design drawings for Tekkaman Blade(the main guy Blade to be specific). Clips from the original show are there too,man I actually found myself humming the original theme music..lol -Twin Blood, A single episode that "remakes" Tekkaman Blade TV from a particuar episode, namely Twin blood lol. The Tekkaman transformations say, look more painful than those the TV series-it makes you want to say "ouch!" The Tekkaman designs are more Guyver like, more organic.(not to mention more powerful) And the battle itself is quite bloddy.. -Missing Link-They spell "link" as "ling" Anyway it is a episode that tries to explain what happened inbetween Tekkaman Blade and part two..It kind of plays like a movie trailer..which is kind of annoying in itself. -Burning Clock-Basically it shows what happened to Blade and Evil's mother and some other stuff, too bad I can't understand japanese:( -A couple of TV spots I think advertising Tekkaman Blade when it was about to come out..not sure of this through... most of the text on this menu for the SF are japanese text, except for twin blood and missing ling(that's how it's spelled on the menu), those are spelled in english outright. This is a good set, while it it not perfect(the specials not being subtitled and such)It is still great, Tekkaman Blade will probably never officailly released here,(or won't be for a long time) cause saban still has the rights-This is definetely the next best thing. If you watched teknoman in the US and were mad that they never finished it or just want a good sci-fi series , get this set or the AV version they are both basically the same. I'm glad I was able to watch the entire series:) Overall I give it a 4/5 rating The TV series itself consistes of 49 episodes, not 26,same as the AV version and everything else as I stated before edited by DarkonOmega on 19 Aug 2002 11:08 am
