I used to make my mom tape it for me every day when I was in football or had to do something else lol.
That makes 3 of us! Back in those days DBZ actually made Portugal stop for 20min a day. Students would miss classes and people would stop working just to watch it and only then resumed their work. It was insane!
In my opinion nothing's as good as Last Exile. I think FMA and Cowboy Bebop are awesome but Last Exile is nothing short of perfection.

Ya know I really thought last exile would be better. I'm glad I watched it and I did think it was pretty good, but not as much as it was hyped up to be. It's a good anime but I don't think it would even fall in my top 20 list.
Anyways, whether you like dbz or not you can't deny it's a great anime. No anime has and likely never will impact people the same way again. Naruto over in the U.S. if handled well might come close though....

sniff...you guys are going to make me shed a tear. I'm so proud of you all for admiting the impact that DBZ had on not only American TV, but around the world. I started watching DBZ back in 1992, at the time hardly anyone one knew what it was here in the States. Now its become a household name, and most of the people that first got into anime by watching DBZ when it came on American TV, now hate it, because its not cool to like an outdated show. Yes its mindless action, yes it doesn't have a strongly driven plot, but neither does porn and we all enjoy that. So mad props to you guys for showing the love.

Most is the key word and the mindless action is what makes it enjoyable. DBZ truly did change a lot of things and before that the only anime I was able to see before that was Akira. That could also be due to the fact that at the time I didn?t know what anime was?

Granted Bebop is to most anime fans the holy grail of all anime. But if you talk to someone who isn't a fan of anime or even knows what it is most don't even know or have even heard of the show. When I talk to people who are clueless to what anime even is after telling them what it is they usually always come up with the three Pokemon, Sailormoon and even speed racer.

Cowboy Bebop, and what about FMA? The problem is that the mainstream is dubbed, and the voiceactors make me cry after watching the fansubs.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I've been watching anime for over 10 years now, and that is EASILY the best tv series i've ever watched. The story, characters, artwork, music, and not a SINGLE dull episode. I'd usually watch it in 3 sittings I think (the final sitting consisting of 12 episodes )
Also, katherine_jean mentioned Escaflowne. And you said it was pulled after airing once? I could swear that YTV aired the series like 4 times in a row, if not more. Then again, maybe it wasn't on YTV in your area of the country?

You know, I hated Last Exile. I made myself the first five episodes on G4/Tech TV and I thought I was going to die of boredom. I?ve caught a lot of the other episodes, but after like ten minuets I change the channel or fall asleep. I almost felt the same way about Bebop for awhile (which I think is really good), but that was because of the almost random episodes and I really like long consistent stories. But I don't think there would be so much hype if it was just plain a bad show. It just wasn't my thing I guess.

THey put it on again? Hmm last time I remeber it was on they had it in Spiderman
Unlimited's spot, they olny showed 2 eps of that and replaced it with Escaflowne. After
about 6-9 eps they took it off and started up Spidman Unlimited again which I thought was
lame. The first time they put it on the English voice were pretty good. Now I'm not so sure
if they have redone it or not. I mean this happpened in the 90's in America. YOu also have
the game? *drool* I'm not sure if it ever cmae out in America. That is one of the few
anime games that I know about that I actually want. The other one is the Ronin Warriors
game for Playstation. However its so hard to find anything relating to Ronin Warriors.
Does anyone know where I can get the soundtracks? Found a link but all it shows is
pictures of the souundtracks which were on 5 or 6 different casssete tapes  . Oh
well, going to end my little spiel now, later all.

Two questions: Hunter X Hunter, the other popular work by the maker of Yu Yu right? Where is that on? (Seriously, I?d like to see it)
And two: YOU LIKE ONE PEICE!!!! (Referring to them, oh I don't know, completely fucking ruining it!) Sure, it's good subbed and unedited but the 4 Kids shit is awful.

Well for me, the only "mainstream" anime I've seen on north american television that left an impact was Teknoman (Tekkaman Blade). Loved that series. Then again, seeing that not many people have watched the show when it aired or even know what it is... I'm hesistant to call it "mainstream".
Quote:Edit: Does Astro Boy count..? Reffering to the one in the 80s. cause the crap they're showing now is..well...crap.
I actually remember watching that as a kid, so I think it should count.

The first five or so episodes are a snorefest. I almost stopped watching the series. I forgot whoever said there wasn't one single boring episode but you must be easily amused. Some of the later episodes are great - and some are boring. The last 10 or so are really good though.
