Has anyone ever had a X-Box, PS2, or Dvd player just burn a circle, or scratch a big ring on your DVD.
I loned one of my americana dvds to my friend who used a ps2, & when i got it back it had a small little glitch in one frame picture thingy. Then after i watched it I loned it to my friend with a X-Box & he said it screwed up & skipped about 3 min.s of the first Chapter. Then when I tried playing it on my dvd player, it skipped about 5 min.s then pulsed (shake in & out) the rest of the time.
I'm not sure if it matters but the dvd was Princess Mononoke, & it has a golden back. And when my friend used his X-Box to watch my Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust (with a silver back) nothing happened.

If your DVD worked fine when u lent it out to your friend and then you are having problems after u got it back... then its your friends fault... not his PS2 or Xbox's fault... who knows.. maybe he played freezbie with it ;p

Well so far everyone (at school) has said it was the kid's X-Box! But, as for me I don't know. So, if enough people comfirm this, I'm going to follow (stalk) the kid until he replaces the dvd, or something.
Muwahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a person email me about Xbox playing problem.. but that was not because the DVD was bad... after he reset the Xbox and set it to Asia it played the Region 0 dvd fine after that...
sounds like your friend screwed up the disc and trying to say "My Xbox made me do it"

I play all my DVDs on my PS2 and haven't had any problems with them yet (other than the system being really picky about fingerprints and dust).
None of my friends that I loan DVDs to have reported any problems at all with my discs. Sounds to me like your friends could learn a bit about handling media to prevent damage.
I have heard rumors about PS2s scratching disks, but I have never had it happen to me. My xPS2 and Xbox have treated me well. =)
Spank your friend and make him buy you a new disk!

Hit him real hard upside the head. Then hold him upside down. Shake out any loose change. It's a small start. I don't tolerate any Princess Mononoke injustices. Heh heh. Seriuosly though, I've watched DVDs on my friends PS2 no problems. He's trying to pin the blame on Bill Gate's and his XBox, when in truth your friend used it as a coaster.

Let me help you out with some misconceptions about the X-box and PS2. There is no way that putting a DVD in either one of them will scratch the DVD, and I'll tell you why. The PS2 and Xbox, use a laser to read the data that's imprinted onto your DVD, in other words, there's nothing REALLY touching your DVD to scratch it in the first place. So if anybody out there is worried about watching thier Anime on their PS2 and Xbox, don't worry. Also, I'd smack the guy fiercely for screwing up my Princess Mononoke if I were you. ^_^
Who wants some? Eh? Who's next?

Well, with the PS2, it is possible to get the disc scratched. This usually only happens if you have an off-balance disc or if you are going from horizontal to vertical or vice versa.
