Congress is getting ready for a draft

the reason Bush Jr. went into iraq with out U.N. support is that the U.N. has been pussy footing around for the past 10 years with the situation in iraq. They have known that saddam had been making weapons, keeping foreign aid from his people, keeping the profits from oil for himself, commiting genecide against deferent sects in iraq and various other things. They didn't want us to invade iraq because of what they had at stake, OIL. Some of the european contries (FRANCE) and russia had oil interests with iraq. we didn't. Whats even more frightning France built iraqs nuclear program, who knows what they didn't want the U.S. to find out. I want Bush to finish what he started in iraq, and think it will be the better for us all. Kerry will fuck it all up, with all his double standards, and wavering ideals. He's as bad as Hilary Clinton. The draft for me doesn't really matter, i plan on joining the air force anyways.

That news is pretty old, it's been on Ralph Nader's page for a while. I don't think women will be allowed to fight alongside male soldiers in the draft (no disrespect) because they will be a distraction to the male soldiers and if a pretty one get injured, well, i'm pretty sure some guys will rush in (like me). I think the chances of that bill going through is unlikely but nevertheless John Kerry wants another 40,000 soldiers sent to Iraq not to mention Bushie also pushing for around the same thing if not more.

You make a good point. The reason I dont want to be drafted is first of all, I dont think we should be fighting this war in the first place. Second, I have college and hopefully a good career in front of me that I dont want to waste it because I got killed fighting a war for oil.

I support the troops that are fighting in Iraq to keep america free. I think that the terrorist need to pay for what they did to our country. But Bush was stupid to invade Iraq without U.N. support.

Also, I do not want to be drafted and be fucked up like some of the soldiers exposed to Agent Orange and all that crap and have the government make excuses about not being responsible for it. If I believed in are president I wouldn't mind fighting for our country, but i disagree what he is doing so I will not be joining the armed forces for some time. If you are soldier good for you, however I am trying to get into pre-med and I do not want to sacrifice all that hardwork I've done so far. When you join the army, you forfeit some liberties in order to get new ones; case in point, you get to kill the "enemy" and not have to be responsible for it because you did your "duty" for your country. Too me it's all hypocritical and political bullshit. Thank you.

The USA have no oil interests in Iraq!! LOL! That's the biggest joke of the century!
How somebody can be innocent to the point of thinking that is beyond me! As if the USA had really invaded Iraq with the sole purpose of stopping Sadam and helping out the population. If that's the case why not help out so many other countries that need help? That need it even more than Iraq needed? OIL! It's all about OIL! And Iraq is loaded with it!

Well for one you are pretty stupid because we don't get our oil from Iraq.. It comes from other places.. Second Bush is trying to get away from Oil and such resources why do you think he is pushing for Fuel Cell technology so they can replace those types of things..

I might be stupid but you're definitely simple-minded because this whole business is far more complicated than that. The USA might not get their Oil from Iraq but controlling such a big resource is extremely important. The world is consuming its oil reserves at an incredible speed and it's not going to last for much longer. Predictions say that at best it won't last longer than 50 years and America's oil reserves are really running low. The size and location of Iraq's oil reserves make them extremely important economically speaking and whoever controls them will have a lot of economical power. The whole world runs on oil, controling it means controling the world. It's all a matter of power and influence based on who controls the world's oil reserves.
And if Bush is so interested in finding other resources it's because he is fully aware that someday soon oil will run out and he must start preparing for that. But while it lasts, and particularly now that it's not abundant like before, controling it is of vital economical and political importance. And I'm sure America doesn't want to lose or jeopardize the strong political and economical position it has in the world.

Yes that may be true but the thing is Bush has no intentions of controlling Iraq. And people fail to see that. Why do you think he is pushing so much for the June 30th deadline because he said the US will turn it back over to Iraq and that is what he is going to do. That above all things is one reason why i like Bush. Because if he says something good or bad you know he will do it.. He won't turn away from it. He will do it no matter what. So i don't think bush is after Oil at all because he won't have any control over it. and he has no intentions of having any control over it.. thats what people fail to realize..

finally we are going to use our own oil for once. i watched a news program about how the high gas prices has caused U.S. oil refineries to look for alternative sources of oil, and the one alternative they are looking at is our own. The U.S. has plenty of oil in Texas and Alaska and the reason we stoped using our own was that foreign oil was cheaper, now its not. I also believe Bush has been looking for a reason to not rely on foreign oil and this could be the way to go. The main problem with alternative energy sources is that the big oil and Car companies bought all the rights to those sources(electric cars and solar energy for exaple). so it makes it difficult to use oil alternatives. The reason the UN does not help out other countries is that it wouldn't be beneficial for them to do so, For instance Africa, controled by drug lords and radical muslims. Africa has nothing to offer, there for, no help for them. The US tried to help once with foreign aid but President Clinton gave into pressure from the UN and botched the whole Sudan problem. The UN to me is worthless, in my mind they want to run everything including the US, which unnerves me

What really get's under the UN's skin is that they know (as in the world) we (US) doesn't need them. Look when a country brakes the treaty and then laughs about it... Ifor ten years they have broken the treaty. And Sadam said he never considered the first war over. I think we had some good reason's to enter Iraq. I just wish are plan after we entered was better drawn out. And we had find the WMD's...
