The RIAA: Tools of a Greedy Industry
Posted by: Blight - 12-13-2006, 10:47 AM - Forum: General Babble - Replies (3)

Well, it is time once again to break out the hate factory on the RIAA. For all their pandering about how they are there to protect the Musical Artists, and all the statements that they have made about how file sharing was solely responsible for their greatly declining revenues (and not the industry for glacier speed adaption), they want to try to cut the Artist out of the money that is actually being made. Honestly, I can't put it any better than the way IGN did. You should really read their article, it brings them into a light they can't hide from.

A Major Blow to Sony in Japan
Posted by: Blight - 12-13-2006, 07:47 AM - Forum: Video Gaming - Replies (35)

Dragon Quest 9 will be coming to the Nintendo DS, and ONLY to the Nintendo DS. That is a big F'ing Deal. Dragon Quest is like the Madden of Japan, maybe even more potent. It blows my mind. It also excites the hell out of me. An RPG with that kind of pedigree is going to be a DS exclusive? Awesome, especially now that I have picked up a new and shiny Onyx DSlite, which totally kicks the ass of my original DS. With all the quality titles coming down the pipe, and my limited time to play games any more, the DS has easily become my number one gaming platform. Maybe the same is true across the pond, and that's why their biggest franchise is being risked to a portable system.

Edit: Oh, I guess I should say why that is a blow to Sony, since it is the title for this thread. Well, that is a simple matter. Is it on PS3? Nope. Is it on PSP? Nope. Is Square Enix shifting it's focus to a new company? Not entirely. I think they are projecting that Sony's brand strength in other parts of the world is warrant enough to keep Final Fantasy, which is bigger than Dragon Quest at least here in the States, on their winner for that games more important sectors. But Japan, that might just become DS territory, if not all together Nintendo territory

Question about Ninja Scroll TV Perfect Collection FX
Posted by: Batz Kage - 12-11-2006, 09:48 PM - Forum: Anime Discussion - Replies (3)

I read all the reviews & they say that the video quaility is pretty good.
I was wondering if anyone has the set & can enlighten me on the matter, becuase I tried watching Ep1 today & the video was pixeling on still scenes, & kept jumping ahead 30 seconds to 3 minutes like every 5 minutes. Do I have a bad disc or did everyone happen to exaggerate on the flawless video on the first disc. If so, I can't wait to see the second disc -_-

Which I might also add the silver ring around the underside of the disc is like chipped in two places, not chiupped off like the disc is chipped, but like the little ring inside it isn't whole, but it's not touching any portion of the data, so it shouldn't matter, Hell it could be normal for all I know.

Thank You For Your Time,
BKR

  Netflix-Burn & Return?!?!
Posted by: zrdb - 12-11-2006, 05:43 PM - Forum: Anime Discussion - Replies (13)

I know I'm not the only one who's been doing this-cheap way to jack up your collection. I always match the media to the source-ie-DVD9 to double layer blanks-DVD5 to single layer blanks-use quality media-I almost always use Verbatim's, especially with dvd+r dl blanks, a scanner and printer that can print directly on dvds-FOR MY OWN USE ONLY-I ain't gonna buy too many R1's altough I will if the price is right.

  HK Avatar?
Posted by: Zagatto - 12-01-2006, 04:34 PM - Forum: Anime Discussion - Replies (3)

Does anyone know if there is a HK set available for the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender?

The show is produced by Nickelodeon but most of the work is done in Japan. It's truly one of the most impressive shows I've seen in a while (right up with Last Exile or Samurai 7). I have episodes I've downloaded from torrents but would love to have the box set...

Maybe I'll just buy the R1s...
