I think its more of the line about security. The old Xbox didn't have any type of security on the game saves. So hackers original modifed them to get around the Security system in the Xbox. I belive with the 360 they have alot of safe guards in place for the game saves. This could be the reason why they do not allow old xbox game saves. Would give a known method to attempt to get around the security features.
