Sora Wrote:The OVA is forgettable? I only watched this cause whenit was on TV for some reason they didn's show the actual series but only parts of the Ovas. Anyway I loved it even though it didn't really make much sense since there were a lot of unexplained things that you would know if you already had watched theb TV series.
If the TV seriesis that much better I just have to get it.
Well, a lot of people like the OVA. I felt parts of it were out-of-character due to reasons I don't want to give away here. Let's just say that, throughout the television series, a chemistry developed between Tylor and his crew, and in the OVA it was as though it never existed. The OVA is rocky in other areas, as well.
The Irresponsible Captain Tylor (26-ep TV series) isn't the best anime of all time, just one of my personal favorites. While on the surface it has a somewhat rollicking, engaging plot which moves forward and likeable characters, with a goodly balance of humor and seriousness mixed in, underneath the surface it has details and emotional content that become apparent to more mature audiences. Anyone with a short attention span will miss the point entirely and should avoid, although in all honesty, I think even they would enjoy it! There is enough interesting surface material to engage almost any audience.
Anyone into English dubs, as forementioned, should also avoid this one, as one simply won't get the same enjoyment out of it.
I don't like to build people's hopes up over a series, so for the majority of people I would say, it's a good one to pick up if you haven't seen it, and if you don't have ADD. The plot builds to some intereesting climaxes.
As far as Sorcerer Hunters, I realize it's no amazingly skilled piece of work/animation; I just enjoy it.
