Your Favorite Horror Movie, Then & Now.
#1
Ok, I was looking to collect some old horror movies, so I thought what better way than ask you guys, & just to keep it a bit interesting, I thought I might as well ask for yalls opinions on newer stuff as well.

So, anyone know any good horror movies that are quite old, not exactly black & white old, those aren't out of the question, but I'd preffer color.

See, what started my search for horror movies was the fact that I liked Evil Dead 3, even though it's not really horror, it led me to watching Evil Dead 2, a horror Comedy, & then finally I got to Evil Dead, a horror movie at its best, & lowest.
Evil Dead is my favorite old movie, while the closest I get to liking new age horror is Evil Dead 2, because it seems that horror movies today tend to not really have a lot of scary detail, or alteast none of them I've watched had it.
Which then again I've mostly watched stuff on tv, so it's normally cut up a bunch.

Anyways, what's you guy's input?

The first sleepaway camp was quite good... well the ending was good, otherwise it was just another run of the mill slasher.

My fave horror is probably the Night of the Living Dead remake. The original is so old and in black and white it bored me.

The best recent one i have seen is Dawn of the Dead Remake. The original is dated and good but lacks action. The remake is action packed but probably lacks character development and the social commentary but i think i prefer the remake.

I quite enjoy the Alien movies too.

The only main problem I have with older movies is most of them everyone raves about is about the undead, which isn't bad, but Night of the Living dead has never been my thing. Evil Dead had zombies, but they acted different, & were therefore called deadites.
What I find that my friends around here have against old horror movies is they can't get it through their heads to ignore the bad speical effects. I mean I cut some of the old movies some slack because back then they didn't have to much computer work, & they still pulled off some nice scares.

Plus like I said before, back then they seemed to show a bit more, like in Evil Dead, the vine rape part, not saying it was cool, but I wouldn't expect to see something like that in new age movies, or a "zombie" chew its own hand off, that's the freaky stuff I look for when I want to be scared/disgusted.

Although, like I said I only watch horror movies that come on HBO & the sort, which I'm sure are probably a bit cencored or so I'd pray, because I haven't seen an overly gorey movie in a looooong while.

I dunno if I'd call the Dawn Of The Dead remake a horror movie.... I'd call it a face-rockin' good time.

I actually have a new age horror movie fav.
Yestarday we watched Gothika, Wrong Turn, & House of the Dead.

Of which Wrong Turn rocked with a slight old school revisit to on screen gore & mutilation, but I liked House of the Dead with the crazy zomibe killing spree, plus I didn't like the ending of Wrong Turn, where as House of the Dead's ending rocked.
