I'm surprised no one mentioned any Yuki Kajiura composed series, such as:

-Noir
-.hack//sign
-Madlax
-My Hime
-Gundam SEED (she did a few image pieces)
-Xenosaga 2 (her first game OST)

If you've listened to any of the OSTs for these series, you'd find that most, if not all, tracks are fantastic to listen to, even on their own. She's extremely in demand right now by the anime industry, so any series that manages to snag her automatically gains a huge boost in atmosphere and mood.

Did you just not read my post or something? As for Xenosaga 2, I've not played it yet, because its not out in english yet, but I doubt the music will be able to top Yasunori Mitsuda's work.
