Yes... when they dub the hentai, they have started using North American porn stars for the voices. With hentai I almost always prefer the original japanese voice actors. I haven't heard any decent dub jobs of hentai.

I don't intend to start another dub vs. sub debate with this statement. It's just that there's something really flat about the porn stars acting, in real life or when dubbing anime.

I wasn't trying to start a dub vs. sub debate. I was just wondering since the pornstars do the voice acting for it. Remember, I haven't watched any hentai.

As for the porn stars acting being flat . . . I mean honestly, is anyone watching the porn for the acting? So we wouldn't really expect them to be able to act any better on voiceovers.

I guess that's the reason that I don't really enjoy live action porn too much. I mean really, it's just flesh pressing flesh.

With hentai, I get more of a sense of emotion or actual arousal from the characters than I do with the live action stuff. It's that sense of excitement and the build up that I really enjoy.

I guess for what I want, it is important for the characters to portray a believable range of emotion for me to even begin to be attached. Even if the situation is outrageous, a well done job of acting (voice or live) is what I really want.

Going back to classic porn like Behind the Green Door and Deepthroat, there was a sense of eroticism. It wasn't just a few people on stage going through the motion of having sex. There was a decent premise to involve the viewer that I find absent from modern live action porn.

I've been trying to keep my discussion away from the whole sub vs. dub thing by focusing on what it is that I like about voice acting regardless of the language.

I hope I've been doing a good enough job of that.

I'd be the 1st one to defend dubs if you were bashing dubs. so you weren't. But in this case, even I wouldn't defend them. Bash away for all I care. No way am I gonna sit here and defend Janine or Asia Carrerras voice acting skills. If you were to start criticising Hilary Haag, then we might have a problem on our hands.

I can dig it at times, but most of the time the dubbing is so poor i don't get much from it. I went through a phase of hentai, but it doesn't interest me anymore. On another note: Anybody ever actually watch an entire episode of Black Bible? It was really humorous.
