hybrid dvd is what they call an anime dvd that has both english and japanese audio tracks... in other words, nothing special

Initially I thought that there're some sort of differences between regular dvd and hybrid. Heheh...just like you get hybrid cars.

In more general terms a hybrid DVD is any disc that contains two sets of information.
So if you have a DVD with a movie that also has DVD-ROM content then that is, basically, a hybrid DVD. Those DVD-Audio albums that can be played in both standalones and dedicated DVD-Audio players can be called hybrid. A CD-ROM containing both PC and Mac software...you get the idea. As JJ said, nothing special, but technically there is a difference.

thanks for the information. I got couple of R1 box sets and they were labelled as (Hyb) under the description. That's why I was kind of unsure.
