I just decided to stop doing HW now. I'm really fed up with my astronomy class. When started the class this semester, they swore up and down that there would be very little mathat all. However, they lied, and it seems that a majority of the HW questions are math problems. And they aren't realy simplistic plug and chug equations, but they have large nasty equations that have to be modified, moved around and combined with other relatively nasty equations. On top of that, we don't have an equation sheet, so we have to refer to the class notes, which can be very hard to follow (but not as hard to follow as the lecture). In the end, I really wish they wouldn't lie to us about how much math they're putting in the class and make it just a little easier for the students to get the equations instead of going through over 100 pages of transparency notes. Bleh!

Are you serious?? Because I took astronomy in high school and then again in college to fulfill my science requirement and I never had any difficult math on there. I got A's as my final grade in high school and college and thought it was the easiest science course by far. All of the math that we used was pretty simple. I think it might just be your teacher trying to make it more difficult than it actually is.

it was last year, but I think the prof is getting into higher level aspects of astro, like Einstein's relativity and going really deep into the speed of light, photons and many others.

we didn't get that much into math when i took astronomy in h.s. However, astro-physics can be a bitch.

I took astronomy freshman year of high school and it seemed pretty easy. I can't even remember what the homework was in there, but I don't remember any math at all. Maybe my teacher was just really lazy (I know I was)? I'm not sure... None the less, it was a pretty interesting class.

This is College guys, not High school, so it's just a tad more difficult.

I took mine in both high school and then 2 semesters in college. I found it easy in both. Only thing was that in college we had a lab we had to go to and do these tedious little experiments once a week.
