I ordered the Anime Cartoon version of evangelion TV set and besides the crappy shifting screens, the menus are all in chinese! Is this typical?

No it totally depends. My Maison Ikkoku Set was in English. Plus any rip will be in English. Some sets like Saint Seiya and Mazinger have both in the menus.

No. I have the Sailor Moon movies and the Ranma OVAs. Both menus are in English.
I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something.

With HK you can never be too sure. Sometimes it's English, sometimes chinese, and sometimes the dreaded Engrish (Pally All anyone?).

Some are in English others maybe in Chinese or Japanese. Variety is the spice of life!

Oh, DMarx, is Ranma and Sailormoon any good?

My apologies for going off topic.

Sailor Moon Movies Box Set is a rip. So you're good there. The OAV is a supposed subtitles rip with timing problems. Check out the FX Ranma 1/2 TV Part 1.
