Ergo Proxy reminds me A LOT of witch hunter robin. The pacing, the characters, etc. Which is probably why i enjoy it so much. Not to mention, the ending theme is by Radiohead 
Also, another series you left off the list, is Disgaea. Pretty 'cutesy', but for fans of the game it's fantastic.
