I had the same problem when i converted fansubs to dvd format to watch on tv.
Some of those fangled divx players have settings to compensate, so do some tvs.
Basically i think you need to convert it again adding borders to compensate for the overscan. It took a lot of attempts before i got it right. Now i just watch on my pc - i just don't have the time to do it. It saved me alot of grief.
