Not because I'm scared about my credit card number, but I tend to stick to the same bookstore, and other stores as well, when I like them. I like Anime-Import because of the great service, but I have to admit I was reticent to order at first, but now I'm kinda hooked.
I do order alot from amazon for all my other bookneeds, but when it comes to manga, I still prefer to buy in the same place as usual, a bookstore near where I live. Pricey yes, a lot of choices, but I can read the manga in store, see if I like it and buy it or not. Buying over the net is like taking a book with blind eyes.
However, I'll take another year of Japanese classes and I'll buy manga directly of yesasia.com You can find original japanese manga there, for somewhat 8CAD, it's a really reasonnable price and it will help me keep in touch with the japanese language.
So for those who can't afford cheaper books in "net store", it's okay. Buying manga is not about having a huge collection, it's about what you read. It's preferable, in my opinion, to buy something you really want at a higher price and spend a great time in the bookstore, than doing it on the net.
This is true.
Even if I *had* I credit card, chances are I wouldnt use it for anything but Import-Anime, and maybe Amazon, because, theyre worthy.
Lucky you, I can't read Japanese, so I have to stick to the old American style and scanlations. but, Tokyo-pop is what I usually buy from, and theyre not all that bad.
