i like english and japanese dubs although i greatly prefer the japanese, its the original language in which the anime was intended to be watched. and id like to point out that dubbing in japan is done much much better, this is mainly because anime is so mainstream and voice actors are hailed almost as much as actors in the west. basically the average japanese dub is as good as the dubs for either princess mononoke or spirited away where there is actually effort to perfect characters voices.
i only bother with english dubs cause im lazy and id usually watch the japanese first. what i hate most about eng dubs is the americanisms they add in (a la "way to go dude", "to boot" ect...), it says theyre in japan and yet they insist talkin like surfers, whats with that?
my basic conclusion is that i much prefer japanese dub but ill watch an english one if its there cause im lazy, but after i watch the japanese!
