They charged me taxes on $300 which comes to $45 plus an additional $20 brokerage fee.
Keep in mind that packages coming into Canada are entirely different than packages coming into the US. The US tends to be more lenient with gift packages than Canada does and they have a higher threshold before they start charging taxes.
