vegeta76 Wrote:Is it really so hard for LE just to give us the name of his "Company" and maybe some proof that he is indeed a "ceo" Rolleyes

OMM are the initials I haven?t bought the .com site yet so im not posting the name. I have a small free site at the moment. And im working on the full site now. I also was not the one to bring up my company or me being a CEO it was Vicious in the flame forum so don?t try blaming me he brought it up.

Hidalgo Wrote:An edit job on naruto would be almost as bad as the edit on yu yu hakusho.
Have you seen the uncut version? As in, not on T.V.

Hidalgo Wrote:I would also not like to see funimation get the show as it would recieve the same treatment that dbz did. An absorbent abount of dvds with terrible dubbing. Plus the basic whoring out that it would entail.

Yu Yu is great. Yes a lot of people say they fucked up DBZ, oh well, the manga is better anyway. They are going back to fix their edit job though and even clean up Pioneers mess with the first episodes. And they have recovered from it, except for case closed which I though sucked anyway (though the name changing was bullshit, especially for something they were going to show on adultswim, but it was also not their decision.) They have grown up as a company since then and would easily have the talent to do the show well.

CrayonShinChan Wrote:If a dub is poor no one is pointing a gun at your head to watch it... Sure you can complain but i think some ppl go a bit overboard with the "bombing of their studios" etc. Bottom line is how important accuracy is to you. Is it important enough for you to learn japanese? Then you wouldn't need to rely on the US companies.

You do realize I was kidding, right? First off, I have no clue how to build a bomb and secondly I don't even know where the hell their building is. But I would be super pissed. And like everybody is going to go out and learn Japanese to watch T.V. shows. Me bombing a building would probably happen first. Dubbing companies exist for a reason...to make money. But damn-it, if they want to make money, the should do a good job with the source material!
I loves me the ADV. Anyone who can't see the quality and credibility they brought to the North American anime market, especially in terms of dubbing, needs a seriously heavy enema to blast their head out of their ass... it's obviously in there pretty deep.

LONG LIVE ADV and all it's wonderful VA's!

PS - ADVfilms.com is also the best North American anime company website... the fact that they put all their trailers out there, even for shows that haven't been given a release date yet (FMP Fumoffu, Elfen Lied), in high quality, makes me happy to spend money on those very DVDs when they come out.

PPS - Thank you ADV for releasing Gantz uncut... even if only at 2 episodes per DVD... if it was too messed up for even Japanese TV uncut, then I really can't wait to see what it's all about.

PPPS - When I get a job at ADV as a VA, I'm going to dedicate my first character portrayal to LE... even though he won't likely ever see the dedication as he hates ADV so much for burning him on a job.
elcoholic Wrote:I think ADV just binded as many good VA's as they could so they're sure to have enough good actors whenever they want and probably for a good price instead of having to negociate a new contract everytime they want a VA's services. Just good business.

This is a fact that many people get wrong. ADV does not have the rights to or exclusive agreements with any VA's. It just turns out that all the VA's that work for them happen to live in Houston. They are free at any time to go work for any company. They are basically 'independednt contractors'. Which is why you've been hearing Monica Rial and Greg Ayres in some Funi dubs recently. And why Vic Mignogna is playing Edward elric in FMa which is a Funi release. If Funi pays them enough, they travel up to Houston and dub for them. That is the same reason you will see Wendee Lee (LA VA) doing stuff for Bang Zoom, New Gen, and some other studios which are all based out of LA.

So ADV didn't lock anyone up. It just ended up being that those VA's lived in Houston. Some in fact weren't even VA's. Like my favorite (Hilary Haag) left town to go do some acting or school or something somewhere, came back to her hometown of Houston and just happened to try out for some ADV anime. Same thing with Greg Ayres. He was doing Tech Support when Monica or someone else recommended him. Steven foster called him up and asked him to come in for an audition. Many of them are just Houston residents who do plays and stuff like that who happen to try out for ADV and land extra work that way.

Good luck. I heard the wait list to audition at ADV right now is about 3 years.

I'm not planning on dying anytime soon. Wink

Plus, I was mostly just thinking about how funny it would be to dedicate an ADV VA character portrayal to LE.

Not sure how keen I am on moving to Houston, either... I think I'll just do it over the phone, as a hobby... they'll buy that.

Oh, and remember the other time during that discussion? When you talked about the hot lady at your work getting fired by the boss? As in not you? You know, CEO's don't have bosses. And if you mean that after school snow shoveling service or something that you possibly run, that's not considered being a CEO.
Ahhh man not this B.S. again. I swear we all should just ignore stupid stuff like "ADV suk0rz" or "Ai h8 engr1sh dUbz cuz th3y s0und dum herr....". From now on lets just try and remember this simple un-spoken rule, okay? I just read 3 pages of garbage talk about some stupid comment and nothing on the subject of the thread.

Either way if it gets put on CN or Fox I don't really care. What I care about is actually getting a chance to watch it in english and on an actual U.S. TV station. I mean the same thing like the release of Sailor Moon would happen if the show got treated badly. Plus come on there are standards TV channels have to follow and in the U.S. the types of words in a show and the content have to be edited to meet the standards of the U.S. Does it matter if there is a bad dub anyways? I mean heck with todays DVDs you get both english and japanese on the same disc without having to pick between a dub and a sub version.

With today's fansub audience I highly doubt buying Naruto would be intelligent due to the fact that many fansub elitists wouldn't watch it cause they think it automatically sucks cause it is in english and may have (gasp) some small edits.

That one made me laugh really hard. Well I guess you're caught in a lie now LE. Lets see if you can kick, whine and scream your way out of it.

I agree, I tried my best to ignore it.

A lot of the edits aren?t small either. When watching Yu Yu on TV verses on uncut DVD it is so different, I swear I didn?t see an episode in knew I had. It was the one with the guy that had the banshee shriek. That attack was fucking awesome and when I saw it uncut after seeing it edited I about crapped my pants. They must have edited a good 15% of that episode out for middle fingers and ultra violence. It also goes deeper than if the dub is bad, editing is a problem. If they are small edits and not complete content changes it is all right, but changing the audio to Japanese isn?t going to change a severely edited video.
Blight your not kidding about YYH because I could see a lot of differences easily on the Uncut DVDs when I watched the three FX sets from Friday-Monday and all I have to say is uncuts better in every aspect and its even funnier. Another example of censorship lowering the quality of a great Anime...

I don't care about the Yu Yu editing for one reason. They released the cut version AND and uncut version for us to enjoy. As long as companys release an uncut dvd version I don't really give a crap what they do to the tv version. (well, I do but I don't... sure most of you know what I mean lol)

Yea I know what you mean. As long as I can se it in the intended version then what they do to get it on TV is alright, as long as the unedited version isn't an after thought.
