was surfing the newsgroups when I saw someone post about this article. Its interesting, not anything everybody already knows about, but interesting none the less. So i figured id post it here. Besides lol, its been a while since i started a thread

Good article and good to see anime in the US is still growing in popularity. Don't notice much of it in europe unfortunatly.

The first quote was a stereotype sure, but the second one seems like more of a fact. Wether you use the word yourself or not, otaku(by the american definition not the japanese) is what we are. I like that if you read parenthesis that make up the rest of that paragraph you get three explantions of the word, none of which involve a lack of showering or setting bombs in subways. Granted the use of the term in the article is uncalled for and calling us fans would have worked just fine, but at least it's not derogatory. Or at least I don't see it that way.
