Not sure if this is the right forum... DVD transfer

Me and a friend have been trading around DVDs for a while, but recently I broke one of his. Wasn't a huge deal, but I felt really bad about it. Does anyone have any DVD transfer programs they can reccomend, so that I can make a backup disc in case something like this happens again?

If its a 1 on 1 transfer without any compression needed (dvd5 to dvd5) you can use any burning tool there is. dvddecryter, alcohol120%, nero etc. Just make an image and burn that.

If its a dvd9 that needs to be compressed to fit on a dvd5 you'll need a program like dvdshrink.
