If you have this hard disk as a secondary hard disk (you boot your system from the other hard disk) than I don't think there should be a problem.
If you want to replace another hard disk by this one you will need some kind of OS (for example Windows XP) if the HD you want to replace is the HD with the OS.
I only have one HD myself, so I'm not entirely sure, but I think it should work just fine.
