(Please read this without any political intention or thought because I doubt any of us are really trying to make a political statement in general here)
I remember that Anime News Network actually had an article that a Bush ad loosely had an anime pic (it looked very ghetto as if it were made in paint) that was based off of Nicholas D. Wolfwood from Trigun to make him look some kind of yakuza hitman. I'm guessing someone who made that ad really loves Japanese anime and yakuza movies. And I doubt he wants to waste time and it would be bad trade relations with Japan in the future considering they are a big economic partner.
