Best there is according to many people on different forums is the "Matrix infinety" chip. I just got it myself and it works perfect. Direct boots everything (ps1/ps2 imports, backups dvd-r/+r ,dvd movies) and I think its region free. It also has a flash memory with which your supposed to be able to do stuff like make mame run on it or play mp3's. I don't know anything about this flash thingy so i'm not sure about this. Anyway, everyone says this is the best chip. Don't know if its hard to build in since I had mine done by someone else but I think its only 18 wires. This is their website http://www.infinitymod.com
