you can check out ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de which is free.. You can also go to http://www.mcafee.com and i think they have a free online virus scanning or you can purchase there Internet Security suite which has Privacy guarding / Firewall / Virusscanner..

Also you can do a search for Free Firewalls or Free Antivirus software which there are some decent ones out there..
