How can I say this a nice way. Oh hell I can't. They are pretty much bootlegs. They copy the DVDs and put them onto less DVDs. R1 release for Cowboy Bebop TV = 6 and for import = 3. Trigun R1 = 8 and import = 3. They don't have a liscense for it in America. Unfortunately many fans (including ME) purchase the HK DVDs and therefore give less money to the respected American Companies. This unfortunately allows less series to be liscensed and released.

Yea these are imports from HK, which makes them bootlegs, but fact that HK bootlegs exist doesnt "allow less series to be licensed and released" in USA... no matter how much dust the domestic US companies raise over bootlegs its does not effect their sales that much... I mean its either I get HK dvd set, or I dont get the anime at all... or rent it and copy it... I would never spend 200 dollars for a Eva DVD set in 9 DVDs is it? ;p, get a perfect set of 3 HK for 35

"I would never spend 200 dollars for a Eva DVD set in 9 DVDs is it?"
Well, its actually only $98.20 (bestprices.com) and 8 DVDs in the box set, but I understand what you mean.

It's kind of an odd situation.
I want to support the North American anime companies so they can release more and better product, but it's so expensive that I can only really afford to buy R1 movies and have to buy HK series. I don't suppose there's much of a way for R1 anime to be lowered in price, as well, because the companies need the money just to stay afloat. :?

need money to stay afloat is very wrong misconception... its all about what they feel they can charge us... look at some titles.. some are 14.99 others are 29.99... the company feels they can cash in on new titles but then they can still profit from selling the titles at 14.99.... the reason for this is because anime distributors are very limited (or maybe were few years back) so they basically had a monopoly to set a price at what they felt like...

True the Princess Mononoke $99.95 VHS price tag was ridiculous, however we sometimes have to pay it being fans. HK sets are illegal no doubt about that. For example the Cowboy Bebop Perfect Sessions is so illegal I don't know where to begin. They copied the DUB (copyrighted material) and used the SUB (more copyrighted material), not to mention they used the menus (even more copyrighted material) as well as case art work (all together now...copyrighted material). I agree that prices are way too high, but there are signs of improvement. For example
Ranma 1/2 Season 7 3 episodes VHS - DUB $19.95(used to be 2 episodes for $24.95) 3 episodes DVD - Hybrid $24.95(used to be 3 episodes for $29.95) Key the Metal Idol 3 dvds $29.95 each for the entire series Hybrid Rurouni Kenshin upped the episodes per volume # from 4 to 5 Pretty much any animeigo DVD same price as VHS $24.95 Zenki Demon Prince 2 2DVD sets of 13 episodes each Hybrid for only $39.95 AD Vision and VIZ have been making very affordable DVD moves as well

I knew it used to suck when you'd go into a store and ask if they have KOR OAV 4 and you just got a bunch of puzzled looks or they charged you something like $34.95.I guess what I'm trying to get at is it's ok to buy HK DVDs. However don't forget about the North American Companies, and suppourt them when applicable. For example after buying an HK DVD Set, you can save up money while watching it and buy R1 discs. Pick up an R1 Release like Pioneer's Hand Maid May, Bandai's Don't leave me alone Daisy, Viz's Ranma Forever, Animeigo's Urusei Yatsura, US Manga Corps Armored Trooper Votoms, or Anime Work's Zenki Demon Prince. If you buy a Rurouni Kenshin HK Set, and you like the first couple of episodes, you can buy the first volume R1 release. This way you can show some suppourt and have a nice R1 disc for yourself.

hehe I support R1 companies aswell... I get R1 hentai's *grins*

Well....um......yes that is a start I guess. Wouldn't it be nice to suppourt something other than Nutech? Say something like Anime Works or Animeigo? No, I'm not talking about suppourting Anime Cartoon(Manga something or other now) or FX anime.

True, but all companies deserve your suppourt as well. On a side note do people who watch hentai, also watch live action porn? I'm not to big into hentai, thought occasionally I view it.
