You're right. It's gonna be a helluva 4 years for you poor dems. America has spoken. YOU are in the minority. You can either join us in building an even greater country and sit and cry about it like the people at the democratic underground. (actually, many of them are threatening violence and blood...) That's another reason I don't like democrats, while there are many good hearted moral democrats that seem to really care (Zagatto) there are 10x more that are filth that this country would do better without.
A 49/51 split is hardly a conclusive minority/majority split. It would have been nice if republicans were sound enough to follow your words during Clinton's administration, but, we see how they reacted in that fashion and how they continue to react in that fashion. As for "making a better country", Bush already had 4 years to attempt that and failed miserably.
The thing that was on my mind the whole time was how Bush claims to be a "war president" and how is rhetoric was focused on security, turrurism and war before campaigning. Meanwhile, all I can think of is this exchange between Lisa and Homer Simpson:
Homer: "Not a bear in sight. The Bear Patrol must be working like a charm."
Lisa: "That's specious reasoning, Dad."
Homer: "Thank you, dear."
Lisa: "By your logic I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away."
Homer: "Oh, how does it work?"
Lisa: "It doesn't work."
Homer: "Uh-huh."
Lisa: "It's just a stupid rock."
Homer: "Uh-huh."
Lisa: "But I don't see any tigers around, do you?"
Homer: "Lisa, I want to buy your rock."
We suffered one instance of terrorism (or as Bush would call it, turrurism) and none afterwards. Bush would like to claim that it was him and his initiatives that stopped it all, yet as Lisa would say, "that's specious reasoning".

Suffice to say, the republican party is full of self-fulfilling, self-centered jackasses only interested in money-making jackassery.
