Just keep in mind when you are using copied DVDs on your PS2 to use better qualitied ones, otherwise you're drastically shortening the life of your PS2 by using shitty-qualitied ones. The PS2 is poorly constructed, and with very mediocre parts, so it isn't as versatile of a DVD player as many of you might think. By using a cheap DVD, the PS2 may not be able to read it at all, or will have to strain itself in attempts of reading the data on it. This in turn puts tremendous stress on the laser of the PS2, as well as the drive motor, not to mention slowing down the loading time even more. Most PS2 game burners recommend brands of discs such as Ritek/Ridata (which for some reason work fabulously with the PS2, but is quite cheap) or Mitsui (which has actually dropped in price recently).
Where exactly is a good place to buy a Modded PS2?
Honestly, I would recommend you buy a modchip and PS2 separately, then take it an electronics shop where someone can install it for you. The PS2 isn't exactly the most reliable product to survive shipping, and it'll likely be cheaper to just get someone to do it.
The components and their quality depends on the PS2 Version!

from what i hear V4,6,7,8,9 are the goodens

mines V7 and my backups work fine but mine sre mostly done via myself and ripkits!
and normally used for actual imports!

but my friend swears by that site and his works fine!
i've got one from the first batch of ps2's and it is still kicking , even though it only plays dvd rom games and dvd movies nothing else. thank goodness ps2 games all went to the dvd format.
how do u find out what version urs is.
