i said that same thing and well i have owned 2!
i had to buy a new one cause my old one was old and i returnet it for the new xbox. so its awesome now no problems.
but the system is awesome dvd player .burner. has a hard drive it is awesome ! customs soundtracks for games is awesome if you have anime music or APC and you put it on during games.
it is a good system to have and the games load and also load faster once you play them the first time and the graphics are so much better then ps2.
ps2 is the worst system i have the only good thing about it is it has alot of games the only reason is cause all developers can make games easy for it and that in the long run is bad quality !!! so i would recomend at least renting it or playing it in the store it is worth it.

I might have some Atari system (not sure of the number, but probably 2600 or 5200) in the attic, but if I still have it, I think it is broken. I have an Odyssey 2, but I have yet to get it to work. Probably broken, but I am going to try to get it working when I have the time. I think it will only work on my small and old(er) television.

If you want to get the old odyssey working on a newer TV go to Radio Shack they have a switchbox that you can use with the odyssey (and pretty much any older system) and it connects straight to the coaxl cable instead of needing antenna prongs. They cost about $7 but are well worth it.
