Hey guys,

I got a problem to decide which Naruto Boxset I should buy, hopefully you can help me by telling me what you know about those sets. I prefere (as probably everyone here) DVD Rips.

There are the Englisch Dub versions by FX/EZ-DVD (Part 1: http://www.shopanimedvd.com/product_info...ts_id=6381)

I don't need Englisch Dub to watch, buy I read that the previous releases by FX without English Dub, had crappy Subtitles, and I compared the FX episodes with the official episodes by VIZ Media with their Uncut Boxsets (Part1: http://www.shopanimedvd.com/product_info...ts_id=5295),
and they quite match. So maybe these are R1 Rips. Maybe you guys can tell me.
Furthermore, I read that FX stopped using Gatefolds, but I really like them, so if anyone knows about this, please tell me.

Then there are the English Dub sets by MAC (Part1: http://www.shopanimedvd.com/product_info...ts_id=6770)

In my HK-Anime Collection, most of the really good ones are MAC releases, with great subtitles. So I have hopes that these could be R1 rips, as they, as well match the episodes with the VIZ releases (I think even more than the FX does). And I think that MAC uses gatefolds.
I also saw 3 bleach boxsets by MAC, which exactly match the episodes of the VIZ bleach releases.

I actually like the cover artwork of the FX more, but subtitles quality, and gatefolds are more important to me.

I own 5 boxsets of MI, which have quite good subs, good quality and a really nice animated Menu, but they have only 13 episodes for the same price as FX and MAC have 26. Even if the MIs have better quality then, my wallet would prefere FX or MAC.

I hope you guys can help me,

Help with some Sailor Moon imports~

Hey all, yesterday I received an order I'd made on shopanimedvd.com for the entire series of Sailor Moon (all five season and the three movies) and was dismayed to discover that 4 out of the 5 boxsets they sent me did not match the pictures they advertised on the site. I spent a long time before I put in the order researching which import version was the best, so I'm pretty chapped that I didn't get the ones I thought I was getting.

http://www.shopanimedvd.com/advanced_sea...on&x=0&y=0

These are the ones I thought I was getting, advertised as being manufactured by MAC. (The five sets on the bottom of the page, plus the Sailor Stars season at the top of the page. The season 1 boxset is the only one that came through as advertised.)

Instead, the boxsets I received look like this (grabbing pics from other sites where I find them):

Sailor Moon R
http://www.animecollector.com/cgi-bin/buy?a0=03238

Sailor Moon S
http://www.animecollector.com/cgi-bin/buy?a0=02815

Sailor Moon Super S
http://www.animecollector.com/cgi-bin/buy?a0=03168

Movie Trilogy
http://import-anime.com/screenshots.php?...em_id=4774

So I'm wondering, are these simply the new MAC packaging or are they completely different import versions? I've looked through import-anime.com and it doesn't seem to have reviews on many of the version that I have, so I don't know who made them or what they're like compared to the other ones.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all~

I got a PM asking me where I shop for my anime these days. I figured I might as well share that info with everyone here since this site no longer has a store. I will remove this if anyone has objections.

kcdvd dot com :: is the best place currently. Standard prices, excellent shipping speed and cost. They have a huge 50% off sale a few times a year. Definitely the time to buy a lot from them.

sphiatt dot com :: is the cheapest place, they always run sales of 30-50 percent off. They have crappy service tho. Emails can take a few days to be answered. Shipping is average, but if they are out of something they will not notify you and just delay your order till it comes in or mail half of it out if its big and mail the rest later. I hear some people complain they often send the wrong sets, but I have never had that problem. They did forget a set once. If you have a problem, call them, its the only way to handle it fast. As long as your patient with them, they are cheep and decent. I use them often.

anime-niacs dot com (remove the dash, wordfilter) :: is a classic source. Again, Average prices and shipping. Excellent customer service.

anotherheaven dot biz :: is a little more expensive, but highly reliable. Use coupon code "arcticnightfall" for 40% off. It sounds like a lot, but usually that just puts you at average or a bit under average price. He has sales often but changes the prices storewide. The best time to order from him is to wait until he has a decent sale price, then use the coupon.

sundevildvd dot com :: all arround average shop. I do think this is the only place that still has free shipping, which is a big plus if you order only one set at a time. I havn't ordered from them in a while, so can't say for sure.

These are my main sources. If anyone knows of any other good ones, please list them here.

Kind of a wishlist for new sets you would like to see made. I know a few store owners that can get requests back to FX. They have been kind of slow with new sets lately, so lets see if we can get a few requests in.

I would like a Macross 7 set rereleased and remastered with improved subs, but I don't think EZ does any original subbing, so thats just a dream.

Shaman King Perfect - HAH! Never going to happen. I never saw what 4kids did to butcher it so bad that they even stopped dvd sales, but it had to have been pretty bad. Of course it is 4kids- Antichrist to anime. I remember the series was mediocrely good many years back when I saw it in fansubs, but then again I am a sucker for mindless fight animes.

One Piece Perfect - not suck edition. The current one that just came out is based off the terrible 4kids one, right? ANTICHRIST I SAY!

King of Bandit Jing: Seventh Heaven OVA Perfect - Plain and simple.

Dragon Drive Perfect - Meh. I don't care really, but my nephew likes it.

Blood Perfect - I am sure its coming out soon anyway.

Gravitation OVA Perfect - Why not. Yaoi needs love too.

Hello everyone. It's been a while. I figured this place has been rather abandoned, but you know what? I see 9 people online right now. And it is 3am my time. That tells me this place is far from abandoned. So I think it is time to start kicking things up here. I will try to come up with a few topics of discussion over the next few days and see if I can help kick-start this forum. Everyone else join in also, because I feel that HK anime is far from being dead.

So how is everyones experiences with HK anime been? I have actually been rather happy with things.

I mostly stick with EZ/FX these days. I feel they have finally caught back up to the awesomeness FX was back in the days of Flora. Most of the time on these new sets the video and audio quality has been near perfect. My dvd player even has an easier time with these disks than the old FX ones.

I havn't bought much in the way of MAC lately, so I can't say much about them. Tho I must say I am very pleased with the last MAC set I got. I nabbed the two sets for Yakitate Japan, and they are very well translated. You get the occasional bad wording and grammar error, but everything else is spot on so far.

And the last MI set I bought was Get Backers Perfect, which was a fantastic watch and superior quality.

I just got me a big steaming new batch of anime I am watching on, and I will start posting up some reviews for them soon.

I just worked my way through the first two collections of this series, and enjoyed it quite a bit. Kind of reminiscent of Kimagure Orange Road, and it got me started on treacle like Ah! My Goddess (I'd marry Belldandy in a moment, even though my wife would be pissed). Anyway, this series goes on forever, and it seems well nigh impossible to locate sets 7 or 8. Anyone have a line on where to look?

This anime series is the follow up to the short anime movie "Blood The Last Vampire" released by production IG a few years ago. Of course you won't have to have watched that to enjoy the series, but I recommend it.
It will be replacing Trinity Blood in the night line up next to Bleach.
