If your into blood, sex, bad language, violence, lots of blood, and torture even the devil would cringe at, I would suggest Ichi the Killer, don't watch the dub though.

House of Flying Daggers is directed by the same guy who did Hero and I thought it was even better than Hero. I'm assuming that you've watched Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon as well.

The recent Zatoichi movie was pretty good as was Ong Bak. Kung Fu Hustle is a definite must see movie but keep in mind that it's a comedy that intentionally goes over the top at times.

Another fave of mine is Iron Monkey. Do a search for Yuen Wu Ping and get a list of movies he has done action choreography for. He's one of the most famous choreographers in the world for a reason (Matrix, CTHD and a bunch of other great movies).

Well, a very good samurai movie is The Twilight Samurai (2002), but it's not exactly your bloody samurai movie. It was nominated for an Oscar in 2004 and won a total of 33 awards. You can find more about it and watch the trailer here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0351817/

From the same director, Yoji Yamada, there's also The Hidden Blade (2004). Although I've bought the dvd I haven't gotten around to watching it yet but I've heard it's very good. And if it is indeed in the same style of The Twilight Samurai then it must be good.

One of the best martial arts movies I've seen in the past few years is Fighter in the Wind (2004).
Quote:This movie is based on the true life story of Choi Bae-dal (who later changed his name to Masutatsu Oyama), the founder of Kyokushin Karate. Choi was born in South Korea in 1923, immigrated to Japan in 1938, and founded the Kyokushin Karate organization in 1953. Currently, Kyokushin Karate is practiced by more than 12 million practitioners in over 120 countries around the world

I'm going to suggest another movie that I've bought but not yet watched but if you've watched the anime Basilisk (awesome anime) then you're definitely going to want to watch this one. Shinobi: Heart Under Blade (2005 - aka Basilisk the movie). Like I said, I haven't watched it yet but I can tell you from what I've seen that it definitely looks good.

Like Zagatto said, Zatoichi (2003) and House of Flying Daggers (2004) are pretty good. Sword in the Moon (2003) isn't fabulous but it isn't bad either.
I've heard both very good and very bad things about Seven Swords (2005), but I'll give you my opinion once I watch the dvd I got for Christmas. Big Grin Which doesn't mean you can't check it out on your own. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0429078/trailers

You can download all of these movies at http://www.asiandvdclub.org (dvd ripped). I think you can find hentai there as well.
If you want to buy any of them I suggest http://www.yesasia.com . They have good prices, awesome special editions, great service and if you spend more than $39 you don't have to pay for S&H.

I can recommend a large variety of great Asian movies, many quite violent albeit very good, but they're not specifically about martial arts and samurais.

Watch Tom Yum Goong. Best martial arts movie ever. Although its not released on dvd in the US yet, you can prob. find a torrent for it. Asiandvdclub.org has a dvd torrent for it, I know that.
