What's hot in the scanulations? - Batz Kage - 06-05-2005

eh, it's been ages since I've actually been looking around, so; anyone have any suggestions?
prefferably something I can easily get ahold of & in large amounts.

I was into Bremen, but Toriyama World stopped at like volume 9 last I checked, & the only other people working on it I could find weren't even that far.

MAR got lienced, & I think Midori no Hibi did too, so I just kinda quit reading..

I've heard good things about Gantz, but could never find a d/l source to check it out, so thanks.

As for Death Note, Rav tried to get me to read the series...I've read the one shot, but wasn't all that impressed, should I still give the series a chance?

Thanks for the help Smile

As soon as I saw the title of this thread, I also immedietly thought "DEATH NOTE!" I came to post that reccomendation, but it looks like I was beat to it. Big Grin

I use http://www.directmanga.com . It has both Death Note, Gantz, and a bunch of other stuff. Sometimes its free downloads are down, but I thought it was worth it to pay $7 a month (only $5 each after that, IF you choose to continue subscription) to get unlimited, full speed downloads. I downloaded a few hundred chapters in a few days....

Anyway, READ DEATH NOTE! That series kicks so much ass. I couldn't stop until I read all 42 (?) of the chapters that were out.

Without a doubt the most influential and moving manga I have ever read (though truthfully i haven't read many) was Lone Wolf and Cub. SOme of the stories are so moving you really feel for the characters which in my opinion is exceptionally hard to convey in a comic medium (anime too to a lesser extent). I suggest LWC to anyone even those not interested in manga and anime. For all its popularity in Japan I am really suprised there is no anime remake of the series as there is for virtually every other manga series out there.

Read MPD Psycho: http://www.omanga.net/?cid=b_mpd_psycho
Trust me, it's right up your alley (see the pic below). It will make you wonder about the author's sanity. Not for those with a weak stomach! And the art is great! If you like it be sure to check out Leviathan, written by the same guy.
That website also has a bunch of other titles that are very good, like Psychometrer Eiji, one of my favourite manga, a sort of GTO meets MPD Psycho without nearly as much violence as MPD but almost as funny as GTO!

I've got like the first volume of MPD Psycho.
And I loved Leviathan, but I decided to stop at the first volume as to wait for the series to be finished before I start collecting.

I've never even read MPD though, so I'll have to check it out; Thanks

Just read the first volume... its... interesting...
the gore factor is probably worse than gantz cause there is some VERY disturbing imagery.... kinda like what andromeda posted above... i dont have a weak stomach, but the bit with the cooler just CREEPED me out!
But i Love the story, probably one of the best iv seen so far... just cant really decide if i like the manga as a whole or not

It's indeed... different but it's also great. Fortunately I don't have a weak stomach so I can put up with all of that very well. However, like I said before, it makes me wonder about the author's sanity. I mean, how the hell did he come up with those things?

I don't have a weak stomach either... i just get pretty creeped out... the only thing that really got me was the flowerpots.... THAT was disgusting... the part where the guy rips them out that is

What's hot in the scanulations? - Batz Kage - 06-07-2005

I have like 7-8 gigs of Scanulations unzipped, & about just as much if not more still zipped up that I've never touched.

Most often I'll start collecting a series & refuse to read it till it's finished, & if it gets liecensed, then no shoot, I jsut never read it, but with some series like MAR, Bleach, & Black Cat I started reading right away, & now that most scanulator have (not..shhh) stopped translating them I'm like wtf, now I have to wait & actually buy them. (I'm cheap & lazy)
I might buy MAR, but Black Cat took a weird turn that started to remind me of HxH (which I love, but just don't see as being right for BC) & Bleach looks like it's going to be one of the next Pokemons at my school & I'd rather not put up with their fanboyism.

Argh, I meant 62. Off by 20...whoops. Cool ALthough I have read up to 64.

I still think it's gonna be continued, although the releases have been pretty damn slow lately. Dissapointing, but for Death Note, I'll wait. Licensing hasn't stopped Naruto or One Piece.

Batz Kage: you downloaded it yet? Big Grin Seriously, give it a shot! The actual series is SO much better then that awful one shot.
