It is like others as it is a midevil based games. You fight another town to gain enemy kills (EK's) to gain hero armor which give you a damage increase. You fight monsters to gain items and expierence to gain levels to get stronger.
Yes, if you have 50 Magic and about 36 intelligence (enough to cast the spell) You can get 100% magic which allows you to cast faster and to summon large Cyclops.
