Good war movies - evilomar - 04-27-2005 Cidien Wrote:I don't like movies that misrepresent what actually happens, especially when they make the soldiers look bad. So you like fiction? Sorry dude its war, shit like that happens and not just by American soldiers. Kubrick did a fantastic job portraying the characters in Full Metal Jackett. I have seen a ton of war films, foreign and US and some films I have enjoyed over the years are: The Big Parade Life is Beautiful Dances with Wolves Napoleon(1927 French version) Hearts of the World The Tuskegee Airmen Lawrence of Arabia Stachka Gone with the Wind Sommarnattens Leende Seven Samurai Schindler's List Empire of the Sun Ikiru Tearing Down the Spanish Flag Four Feathers (1939 version) Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors La Battaglia di Algeri Hell's Angels La Grand Illusion Confessions of a Nazi Spy The World of Apu For Whom the Bell Tolls (Hellz yeah based on Hemingway's novel) Immortal Batallion The Age of Gold Beauty of the Day Aguirre, the Wrath of God Cria! Anime: Barefoot Gen Grave of the Fireflies Railroad to the Stars If you like good portrays of American soldiers, go watch old John Wayne movies like Green Berets (which he fucking regreted doing), The Memphis Belle, Pearl Harbor, or Where Eagles Dare (that one had a phenomenal cast). If anyone hasn't seen Hotel Rwanda, go and see this wonderful film. Good war movies - Cidien - 04-27-2005 Ya, but the movies make it sound like shit like that is happening all over and most/all the soldiers behave like they do. It's bullshit.
