Does anyone actually pay attention to what they say? Also does anyone base their decisions on renting/buying games based on what they say? The last question is why?

nope i don't follow anything really people says.. if anything i would perfer to rent it and try it.. Alot of games i like get bad ratings.. ;o)

Same here. So far there has only been one game that I bought, after trying that I liked
but sucked in the end. Out of all the games I bought only one I didn't like in the end, thats
got to be a record.

Ive gotten 4 I didnt like but that's pretty good considering ive had well over 200 games in my lifetime...

I usually look at the reviews on a bunch of different sites, but my ultimate decision is if the game souds different from all the other games out there. I like to play very original and unique games so if a game gets a good rateing but it sound just like every other semi-decent game out there, I dont buy it.

I only read reviews at school well I did but now I know I can get on this site
But that's beside the point. Most games are not unique really they have run out of ideas...

I don't listen to game magazines. Because they are usual full of stuff like Castlevania SOTN is just ripping off Metroid, The nintendo can handle Sonic scrolling, Mario would beat Sonic. God damn nintendo fanboys!

because a mod can edit polls and edit the numbers.. So probably a mod did it. But which one is up to you to decide.

Do a web search on Cthulu and/or Lovecraft and you should find more than you could ever hope to know.
It was definitely a mod who changed your poll though... what a horrible abuse of power.
