THis was definately the great quest with some of the earlier systems and could be done with some of them. I was just browsing some of the jap import 360 games and started wondering if there is a tech mod of some sort that will allow a region 1 X-Box 360 to play import 360 games? Maybe one of them urban legend things but worth asking
I'm not 100% only about 99% but the 360 is region free...

Currently right now there is only DVD-drive firmware mods that allow you to play burned discs of games and such. And alot of providers are providing easy and cheap mods for this.. (Early in you had to make sure you were loading the proper one with the proper version etc etc. ) but the mods are making it automatic.. But there is no full scale mods like for the original Xbox.
Well that is a shame, I guess I will make due with Enchanted Arms next week untill some of the other Jap type games hit the market here in the USA
The 360 itself is region free but some of the game companies region code their games and there is no way around this yet. In the end its all up to the game makers.
Seems silly for the game companies themselves to region encode them... that's like saying "Hey you! Stop that. We don't like money. Ya that's right, put the credit card away and slowly walk away from your computer."

It sucks doesn't it! People telling us what we can buy and when we can buy it...
I'm sure if the poster looks, they'll be able to find out if the game they're looking at is region coded or not, Microsoft themselves encouragew companies not to do it... But then they also encouraged it with the X-box...
