Which like the parent rom will contain everything it takes to run it and a child rom will have only the things that have changed so to conserve space. but if you only have the child rom zip file it won't work at all. I will try and find the program you can use to manage your roms. It dumps out a list of roms mame32 will play and scan yours and tell's you the files you are missing to get a rom to run.
I believe that's the way it works. Like d/ling Metal Slug 4 is 50 megs, but the dumpped version or something like that is only 8, but the 8 meg won't work without the 50 meg (I think those sizes & titles are right.)
playing N64 roms on a puter is very difficult on the processor. I hate N64 emulation, just get the machine and a TV. GBA emulation kicks arse I used to emulate GBA but I had to format.
make sure you get a clean recent version of MAME and then try and load your roms. not all roms run on MAME need mind you.

Ya, I just wish you could make the screen bigger than a gba screen. =P Oh well, it's nice to have a way to test out games now. If I like a game I can just buy it and play it on the DS.

I play GBA games at full screen or atelast 3/4 screen. It just makes it look like a SNES game.
