The first disk of Outlaw star will only play the first half of the first episode, I've tried it on 2 DVD players with the same result.

Try it on your dvd-rom. It generally plays everything. If it doesn't, most prob the dvd is faulty. Another way to check is try it on an Apex dvd player. If it doesn't play on the Apex, 99% it is faulty too. Just pm JJ and asked if you could get a replacement.
